Because Pink Cotton CO.’s clothing is made from a majority or entirely of second hand materials, there may be imperfections present in the fabrics. If any imperfections are visible, they will be noted in the product description.
Don’t see your size listed in my size chart, but you want to purchase a piece? Please reach out to me at PinkCottonCo@Gmail.com and we can see what we can do. We can’t guarantee your size in a past or current collection as materials are limited, but we can do your best to accommodate you in future collections.
What Determines What Sizes Are Included in Each Collection?
Because Pink Cotton CO.’s clothing is made mainly from second hand materials, fabrics of each print are limited. To determine what will be made from each piece, the size of the textiles are taken into consideration to decide how to best utilize the materials. Depending on the size of the workable material, it may be more practical to make one larger dress rather than 2 smaller ones, or vice versa.
That being said, a variety of sizes will be available, sometimes in limited numbers, per each collection.
How do you determine the prices of each piece?
Using second hand materials means a lot of work goes into preparing fabrics before any sewing, or even drafting, can begin. All textiles are first washed either by hand or machine, ironed or steamed, and then looked over for any possible damage. While some second hand textiles are in great condition and just require a quick spin in the washing machine, others are covered with satins, odors, fabric pilings and more. These blemishes can take hours, or even days to correct and require a lot of extra work. Therefore garments made from these fabrics will be priced higher to make up for the extra hours put into making them.
Environmental Impact
My handmade clothing is made from repurposed fabric that used to be duvet covers, bed sheets, pillowcases, curtains, tablecloths and more! The EPA estimates that the U.S. alone generates 25 billion pounds of textiles per year, and 85% of that isn't recycled, and therefore ends up in landfills. That's 21 Billion pounds of textiles in landfills per year! By purchasing products made from second hand textiles you are helping reduce textile waste and save energy that would be used to recycle goods.
Please note, due to the nature of vintage fabrics, fading from aging, sun damage, and washing is to be expected. Some areas of the garment may appear lighter than others, but that doesn’t take away from the beauty of the piece.
